Remember the Times

We graduated from St. Mary's on May 29, 1966. On May 28th, 2016, fifty years later almost to the day, we will gather at the Andover Country Club to reacquaint, reminisce and celebrate our lives and friendships. Please bring along any memorabilia that you have kept in your treasure chest all these years:  photos, class rings, medals, .......saddle shoes!!  We will have a spot set aside to display these items.  We will also have a board where photographs can be displayed so please start gathering your contributions.

Our 50th: Making New Friends of Old Acquaintances

Last week I had the pleasure of having breakfast with Mary Ann Abraham Doucette and Jane Finnichiaro Nicolosi.  I didn't know either one of them very well during our St. Mary's years, but I thoroughly enjoyed meeting the women that they have become.  Similarly, I have had heartwarming and interesting email exchanges with other classmates, many of whom I only slightly new in high school.

During our luncheon at the Andover Country Club, we will have the wonderful opportunity to make new friends and to get acquainted with the women we have all become over these past 50 years.  I'm sure we'll all walk away feeling enriched and marveling at all of the life stories that were shared.

Mary Ann, God bless her, had the directory list and other materials from our 25th.  Hopefully, the list will be helpful in finding missing classmates.

She also had a list of the 41 Trivia Questions that we handed out that evening in 1991at Jackson's restaurant.  Here are a few of the questions.  See if you can come up with the answers.  (Unfortunately, no answer sheet was provided!!!)

What was the name of our senior play?
What was the name of the city-wide parade that we marched in during our Freshman year?
What color were the tokens for hot and cold lunch?
What was Sr. Superior's name?

Ellen

We're making progress!

Greetings, St. Mary's class of '66.

It is wonderful and heartwarming to know that so many are interested in attending our 50th reunion activities.  This reunion is definitely generating a buzz amongst our classmates!

Our website/blog
For those receiving this update from somewhere other than our website, please check out our website at www.stmarysclassof66.com.

Right Now
Our goal during the month of January is to collect complete contact information for our graduating class.  We now have much more data than we did on January 1st, but there are many more women to find.  If you can help us with classmate contacts, we would be very grateful.  We want to be sure that all '66 grads are aware of the reunion.  Make sure you are on our list!  You can fill in the form at the right on our web page . Please include your address and phone in the "Message" section of the form.  Or you can email us anytime at StMarysClassof66@gmail.com

The Luncheon – Our main event!
The main event for us will be the luncheon at the Andover Country Club on Saturday, May 28th.  The class of '65 had their reunion there last year and had a wonderful time.  We met with two of the organizers to get hints from them.  They mentioned that many women said they were a bit unsure walking into the event alone, but as soon as they walked in the door they felt at home and welcome.  The one comment was that they wished that they had more time.  The hours flew by!   We hope you will attend.  The price of the luncheon will be $75.00.  We are hoping to set up a tour of Notre Dame Cristo Rey High School for that day for any who would like to go back and see what St. Mary's looks like today. We will let you know when the tour is definite.

Casual Dinner Dance – Flashback to those Central Dances!
Central Catholic's reunion committee came up with the idea of a joint dinner dance with our class on Friday, May 27th.  It will be at the Wyndham Hotel which, by that time, will have been taken over by the Doubletree chain.  It will be a casual event with good food and dancing to music of the 60's.  We will let you know the cost when it has been determined.  We will be looking for volunteers to help with decorating for the dinner dance so if your creative juices are flowing, please let us know!  If anyone knows of a good DJ, please pass that info on to us.

Other Central Events
Central has invited us to two additional events.  There will be a cocktail reception on Wednesday, May 25th at Jocelyn's restaurant which will be a cash bar. A private room has been reserved.  There will also be a breakfast at Central Catholic on Thursday, May 26th followed by a tour of Central's beautiful facility.  There is no charge for the breakfast.  As most of you know, Central is now co-ed and those women wanting a Catholic education now attend Central.  We have had a few meetings there over the past month.  It is truly a state of the art facility.

Options
You can attend one or all of the events.  Invitations will be sent through the mail.  Central will handle all payments, even for the St. Mary's luncheon.  Payment will be made by check to Central Catholic or online through Paypal.  Information will be forthcoming on payment and there will be a payment link on our website.

For the Out-of-Towners
A block of rooms has been reserved at the Wyndham (soon to be Doubletree).  Often it is less expensive to book online, but we want you to know that rooms have been reserved for our events.

You've Got Mail
Watch your snail mail!  Central will be mailing out a postcard soon announcing all of the events for both Central and St. Mary's.  We are providing them with all of the addresses that we have which they will combine with their class list.  This is another way to reach out to classmates who may not have email and who might not have heard about reunion plans.

Eagle Tribune
A reunion announcement will be posted in the Community section of the Tribune on Sundays whenever there is space available.

The Attendee Tab
Let's start making a list of those who are interested in attending, even if you are not 100% sure yet.  You can use the email option on the website or email us directly at StMary'sClassof66@gmail.com and let us know that you are interested.  We will post the list of names in the Attendee section and update it periodically.

Classmates.com
I have heard from many of you through the Classmates.com website.  It is not necessary to sign up on Classmates.com, but it has proven to be a good tool for finding people.  For those of you who check in on Classmates.com frequently, please use our www.stmarysclassof66.com website as your main information center as that will be updated often.

The Message Board
Let's get the fun started online!  Post memories, messages, thoughts, etc. to share with others.

The Reunion Team
We are the same group that gathered to organize the 25th reunion with the sad exception of Anna Marie Fitzgibbons (Fitzy) who has passed.  We sorely miss her wit, ideas and insights.  The reunion team is Ellen Cashman, Rita (McConaghy) Dziadosz, Mary Lou McQuade, Justine (Foley) Croteau and Judy (Cunningham) Forrest.

Stay Tuned!
We'll post updates frequently.
