A few requests

Hello everyone,

This is just a quick reminder that the deadline for RSVP’s is this coming Monday.  Please register online or send in your responses as soon as possible so we can make the final adjustments on numbers.

It is great to see that many of you are bringing significant others to the evening event or luncheon or both.  Everyone is welcome!

If you get a chance to email me when you have completed your RSVP, that would be helpful.  That way I don’t have to wait to hear from Central.  You can email me at StMarysClassof66@gmail.com or ellcash@comcast.net.  Please also let me know if you are bringing guests.

If you registered online, you should have received a confirmation email back letting you know that it all went through.

I have incorrect information for Pam Gingereau Hajj and Gail Guisti Tridenti.  Their invitations were returned. If anyone has correct email or mailing information for either of them, please let me know.

It won’t be long now!

The online registration for the reunion has now been corrected so you are good to go if you would like to register online.  Please let me know if you have any questions or problems.

Thanks!

It's in the mail!

Hi All,

Central Catholic let us know yesterday that invitations are in the mail.  I’m sure many of you who live locally received yours today.  I know I did.

Be on the lookout and remember that you can register either online or by filling out the response card enclosed with the invitation.  BUT!

One snag…..  I decided to register online to make sure it worked and thought everything went fine until I realized that the meal choices are not indicated in the online registration.  I will be in touch with Central right away to make sure that it is added to the online registration.  Please hold off on registering online until we add the beef or fish selection for Friday night and the chicken or fish selections for Saturday.  In the meantime, feel free to respond by mail whenever you are ready.

Thanks!  I’ll be back in touch very soon.

A few more classmates to add to our growing list

Hello Classmates,

When I posted the list of those planning to attend, I inadvertently omitted the following names.  They have been added to the Attendee section of our website, and you will see their smiling faces at our luncheon!

Ellen Pendergast

Gerry Casey

Pat Tremblay

Patricia Haugen

June Toher was hoping to attend but has a conflict so I removed her name from the list.

I am still waiting to hear from Central that they have mailed invitations.  I will let you know as soon as I hear that they are in the mail.

Quick update

Hello Classmates,

This is just a quick update to let you know that invitations are not yet sent but should be mailed within the next week.  I will let you know when they are in the mail so that you can be looking for them.

Also, we have posted the list of those planning to attend on the website in the attendee section.  There were only a few changes from the list that we sent out a few weeks ago.  We expect that we will be adding to the list once the invitations have been received.  There are quite a few who have not been receiving email updates because we are without their email addresses.

I’ll be back in touch soon!

Ellen

Definitely/Maybe

Hello all,

So many of you have been asking about who is coming to the reunion that I thought I would post a "definitely/maybe" list and get you all to verify that before we move it to the ATTENDEES tab on the website.  Keeping in mind that there have been five of us making calls and exchanging emails with classmates, running into people at the polls, messaging on Facebook and fielding responses via our gmail account, please understand that there are bound to be errors and some of this information is months old at this point.  Your name may be missing or may be listed and shouldn't be.  If we can get this list corrected, then we'll have a more accurate one to post next week.  And then, of course, the "set in stone" list will come with responses and payment after invitations are sent through the mail.

So please take a look at the list below.  If you have a correction to make, please do so via our gmail account, StMarysClassof66@gmail.com  or to my personal email which is ellcash@comcast.net.  Thanks for your help!  Ellen

Progress Report and a Request

Hello Everyone,

We are several months into reunion planning at this point and all is going well.

Progress Report

Thanks to those who responded to our request to help find missing classmates, we were able to add quite a few people to our contact list. The following are still among the missing:  Marion Dooley, Patricia Hassey (who is in the middle east but if anyone has an address or email for her we could keep her in the loop), Rose Ann Hassey, Joanne Marcello, Rosemary Sheehy, Dorothy White and Linda Yandow.

By now you have probably received the postcard that was mailed to you with information about both Central and St. Mary's events.  If you have not received a postcard, let me know and I will send one out to you.  There may be some that are returned because of incorrect addresses and we will post those as they come in.  Hopefully one of you will have their correct contact information.

At this time, there are 58 who are definitely planning to attend and another 8 who are unsure but who are going to try to come.  We are hoping that the postcard will encourage others who had not heard about the reunion to be in touch to let us know if they are planning to join us.  There are about 45 classmates for whom we have no email address so we are counting on postcards to get a response from them.  Considering that we are still several months away from our luncheon date, we are delighted with the response so far.

Keep in mind that you will receive an invitation in the mail around the end of March or beginning of April listing all of the events and asking for your payment and number of people in your party.  You will be able to make payment either online through Central's website or with a check payment through the mail.   Right now we are just gathering approximate numbers of those interested so we have a general idea of how many will be attending.

Sometime in the next week or so, we will post a list of those who plan to attend.  It will be on the Attendees tab on the website.

One person commented that the $75 price for the luncheon seemed quite high. When we added up all the expenses incurred in putting the luncheon together, not the least of which is the room and other fees at the Andover Country Club, we settled on that amount.  We think you will look back at the end of the day and decide that those four hours were well worth the money spent.

A Request

Please consider posting some information about yourself on the Message Board tab on our website: http://www.stmarysclassof66.com/.  Tell us anything that you would like to share about your life over the past 50 years since you left St. Mary's.  That way we will have a snapshot of classmates before we actually see each other, and it will be a great conversation starter once we meet.  Your message can be long or short and include whatever information you would like to share.  Many of you have been in touch with each other through our Facebook page (link on the website), but not everyone is on Facebook so I am encouraging you to use the Message Board as well.

Feel free to email us: StMarysClassof66@gmail.com with questions or suggestions.

Thanks!

Ellen

The Not-Really-A-Dinner-Dance Dinner Dance

It seems that many from our St. Mary's class are unsure of or are shying away from the event with Central on Friday night, the 27th.  I did too initially. It can conjure up images of the old Central dances, semi-formals, uncomfortable situations, etc.  I'm hoping that reading the following will clarify exactly what this event is intended to be for St. Mary's classmates.

The evening at the Wyndham is in no way a "dress up and bring your date to a stiff and formal dinner followed by the boys on one side of the room and the girls on the other waiting to be asked to dance" affair.  What a nightmare that was!  Whether or not you knew anyone from Central Catholic or want to mingle with anyone from Central doesn't really matter.  Central Catholic was planning a dinner for their '66 class and decided it would be fun to have music from the 60's and 70's for those who might like to dance.  Then they thought it might be fun if we were sharing the venue so that Central and St. Mary's grads who knew each other could get reacquainted.

Let me tell you about my situation and that will be sure to put you at ease:  I don't have pleasant memories of those Central dances, semi-formals and proms, and I still hate to dance.  I am a single person and will not be bringing a date. Most of you who remember me, knew that I lived in the country in North Andover and had horses.  I traded in horses for gardening tools and I operate a fine gardening business.  I like to say that I have two types of clothes in my wardrobe: worn, gardening jeans with stained knees on one side of the closet and clean jeans on the other.  That's not too much of an exaggeration.  For the dinner dance, I might be able to scare up a pair of black pants and a knit top.

Think of the Friday night event as an opportunity to meet at a lovely venue, enjoy a delicious meal, and have the opportunity to spend hours visiting with our classmates before the Saturday luncheon. There will be music in the background.  If you choose to seek out any Central people or if you love to dance, that will be possible.  If you don't, you'll still enjoy the evening because we'll be spending time together.

We will let you know the cost of the dinner as soon as we find out from Central what they have decided.

Please come and enjoy the fun!
Ellen

Many of the Lost Have Been Found!

Our goal during the month of January was to locate as many classmates as possible.  We are happy to report that amazing progress has been made.  There are still many to be found and the next update will have a list of those that are still on the "lost" list.  Maybe you will be able to help locate them.
We have begun to make phone calls to those classmates whose emails we don't have to make sure their mailing address is correct, so you may find one of us on the other end of the phone one of these days.
The response and feedback from just about everyone has been extremely positive and many have been thinking about the 50th already and hoping that a gathering would be planned.
If you are so inclined, we'd love to have you post something on the Message Board. It will get us all reminiscing and sharing with each other even before we get together on Memorial Day Weekend.
